I just bought my first Charter arms and used.32 magnum's research when making my purchase. ![]() Right side barrel - CHARTER ARMS CORP, BRIDGEPORT, CONN Left side barrell - BULLDOG.44 SPL. Serial # 2128XX 3' tappered barrel Blued even though the frame looks to have a purple tint to it. ![]() Unshrouded ejector rod. 5 shot fixed front site, trench site on top strap frame Very small wood grips (small to me) I traded my son for his bigger.38 police grips and both are happy. The finish is not perfect with holster wear, full lockup is not like new but acceptable to me.The rifling is in great condition. I am going to shoot for the first time today with Hornady 165 gr.all I could find. I gave $300.00 for it which was a little high,I have been looking for a Gen 1.38 for years and got lucky and found a.44 spl and did not want to lose it over 50.00 - 75.00 bucks. From.32 research i see Bridgport did not name/address stamp some barrels. ' The very first Charter Arms Corporation production began in 1964 in BRIDGEPORT CONN - earliest pieces - mostly Undercover model will have either NO address on the right side of the barrel or will have BRIDGEPORT.' Hp pavilion dv2000 display driver. Does this mean that not a lot of Bulldogs were produced in Bridgeport or any caliber barrels did not get name/ address stamped? Last edited by darrellkansas; May 6th, 2012 at 12:09 PM. I've owned two.44 Bulldogs, and several.38 Undercover snubs, all were very good guns, but they were also all relatively early production models, probably first-generation. The new ones? I don't know. I'm a sucker for a little polish, a decent blue, a bit of case-hardening here and there and a bit of wood to hang on to. My 'serious' carry guns are generally ugly, flat black, with a lot of plastic beneath the slides.efficient tools. I appreciate them, but never really hold them up like I might the little.38 Undercover Charter Arms snubby and say 'Damn, that sure is a nice looking piece'. My Charter Undercover.38 has been extremely reliable. Hasn't failed to fire a single round and is very accurate (for a snub nose). I love the safe of the transfer bar. I talked to the new Charter owners at the NRA convention in Pittsbugh. They gave me some interesting history and tech data regarding items produced. Now, funnily enough, I am selling my undercover but for zero reasons other than I dont use a.38 anymore and have no other.38 arms/want to consolidate calibers. But my pistol or another, I heartily recommend Charter. Guns aren't meant to be pretty, it they did, Glock would have gone under a LONG time ago.
